OpenAI and ServiceNow Connect Workflows with ChatGPT
The available ServiceNow MCP plugin connects ChatGPT with selected enterprise workflows. The partnership also plans features for Codex, cybersecurity, and voice control.

OpenAI and ServiceNow are connecting workflows through the available ServiceNow MCP plugin in the OpenAI marketplace. On October 28, 2026, the companies announced an expansion of their existing partnership, aimed at enabling work with selected ServiceNow processes directly in ChatGPT conversations.
Customers can connect their own ServiceNow instance to the plugin and decide which capabilities to enable. According to the companies, the integration is intended to enable searching incidents, assessing change risk, and updating records in ServiceNow directly in ChatGPT conversations.
OpenAI and ServiceNow: Workflows Under Action Fabric Control
ServiceNow Action Fabric is intended to enforce rules and permissions when actions are performed. ServiceNow is therefore intended to remain the system where access is managed and individual actions are carried out, rather than merely serving as a data source for the chatbot.
For enterprise users, the key benefit is connecting the conversational interface with existing IT operations processes. According to the announcement, ChatGPT should be able to work with incident records, for example, while the relevant rules and permissions remain within the ServiceNow environment.
The available MCP plugin is the current part of the collaboration. Most of the other announced capabilities are still in the planning stage. The companies have announced expanded plugin capabilities by the end of 2026.
Plans for Codex, Security, and Voice Interface
The expanded partnership includes a plan to integrate Codex into ServiceNow’s AI Workflow Factory platform. The companies also said they are preparing joint security features intended to use the context of assets, identities, and processes recorded in ServiceNow.
Early access to these security features is planned for January 2027, with general availability in the second quarter of 2027. However, the announcement does not provide independently measurable data on the accuracy or effectiveness of the planned features in customers’ production environments.
The companies also announced voice features, which they plan to make available in the first quarter of 2027. The announcement did not yet specify the deployment conditions, pricing model, or scope of customer access controls.
Mutual Deployment of Tools
ServiceNow plans to make ChatGPT Work and Codex available to all of its employees. OpenAI, in turn, plans to use ServiceNow workflows in its own operations. This mutual deployment of tools is intended to accompany the product integration.
The partnership brings ChatGPT closer to carrying out controlled actions in enterprise systems. The practical scope, however, will depend on which capabilities customers enable, how they configure permissions, and whether the announced options are delivered on the stated schedule.
In the near term, it will be important to monitor the plugin’s actual expansion by the end of 2026, January early access to the security features, and the subsequent planned general availability in the second quarter of 2027. Independent data on the reliability of automated actions and security controls will also be important for companies.
