About XNEWS

Independent Technology News from XNEWS

XNEWS is a Slovak technology news platform focused on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and cryptocurrency.

Our goal is to provide timely, factual and easy-to-understand information without unnecessary sensationalism. In rapidly developing stories, we aim to clearly distinguish between what has been confirmed, what is based on credible sources and what cannot yet be independently verified.

We pay particular attention to emerging technologies, artificial intelligence models and services, major security vulnerabilities, cyber incidents, internet service outages and important developments in the cryptocurrency industry.

How XNEWS Content Is Produced

XNEWS uses its own technology system, XNEWS, which helps identify relevant events, gather information from credible sources, compare available information and prepare it for further processing.

XNEWS uses automation and artificial intelligence tools as part of its technological news production process. These technologies serve as tools for working with information; they are not themselves sources of information or a reason to publish an article.

The decisive factor is always the underlying evidence and sources from which published claims can be verified.

XNEWS is responsible for all published content, including its updates and corrections. The use of automation does not change our standards for accuracy, sourcing, transparency and clarity.

The Value XNEWS Provides to Readers

The goal of XNEWS is not to publish the largest possible number of articles. We publish when we consider an event relevant to our areas of coverage and when we can provide useful and verifiable information about it.

XNEWS avoids automatically rewriting individual articles published by other media outlets. When preparing news reports, we prefer original sources and aim to provide additional value to the reader.

This added value may include:

  • verifying information using multiple sources,
  • comparing available claims and data,
  • explaining the technical or practical impact of an event,
  • providing context necessary to understand the story,
  • distinguishing between confirmed and unconfirmed information,
  • continuously monitoring developments,
  • providing an updated status of a technology or security incident.

When covering a single continuously developing event, we prefer updating the existing report rather than creating several nearly identical articles.

Sources and Verification

When preparing news reports, we aim to rely primarily on primary and authoritative sources.

These include, in particular:

  • official statements from companies and organizations,
  • security advisories and vulnerability databases,
  • official status pages of internet services,
  • technical documentation and publicly available technical records,
  • regulatory authorities and public institutions,
  • original research publications,
  • credible independent media outlets and specialist sources.

Whenever possible, we verify significant information using multiple independent sources.

If an original document, security advisory, service status page, research publication or official statement is available, we prefer that primary source over an article that merely cites it.

Sources used in preparing a report are listed directly in the article whenever possible and relevant.

Confirmed and Unconfirmed Information

During rapidly developing events, not all information may be immediately available. XNEWS therefore aims to clearly distinguish between different levels of certainty.

Confirmed information is information supported by a primary or sufficiently credible source.

A source claim may, for example, be information announced by a manufacturer or organization that has not yet been independently verified.

Unconfirmed information is information for which we do not yet have sufficient evidence to present it as fact.

If the cause of an event is unknown, we prefer not to state one rather than present speculation as fact.

LIVE Reports and Service Outages

For major outages and ongoing technology incidents, XNEWS may publish a continuously updated LIVE article.

During a single incident, we aim to update the same article instead of creating a series of nearly identical reports.

The progress of an incident may, for example, be represented by the following states:

INVESTIGATING → IDENTIFIED → RESTORING → RESOLVED

The time of the latest check or update informs readers when the status of the event was last verified.

If it later becomes clear that a new and independent incident has occurred, we publish a separate report.

Use of Artificial Intelligence at XNEWS

XNEWS uses artificial intelligence tools as part of its technological news production process.

They may be used, for example, for:

  • identifying relevant events,
  • processing source material,
  • comparing information from multiple sources,
  • organizing and summarizing source material,
  • checking information for consistency,
  • assisting with written content preparation,
  • translation and language editing,
  • updating continuously developing reports.

Artificial intelligence is not itself a source of information. Information published by XNEWS must be based on traceable sources or evidence that can be verified.

The use of artificial intelligence tools does not change the standards XNEWS applies to accuracy, transparency, sourcing and corrections.

Content processed using our technology system may be identified on the website as XNEWS Factory.

XNEWS Editorial Principles

Accuracy Before Speed

Speed matters in breaking news, but not at the expense of knowingly publishing unverified claims as facts.

Primary Sources Before Interpretation

When an original statement, document or technical source is available, we aim to work with it directly whenever possible.

We Distinguish Facts from Claims

We do not automatically treat marketing, corporate or other interested-party statements as independently confirmed facts.

We Acknowledge Uncertainty

If something cannot yet be reliably confirmed, readers should know that.

Sourcing

Readers should be able to trace the origin of significant information on which an article is based.

Added Value

The purpose of a news report is not merely to repeat information that has already been published elsewhere. We aim to verify it, place it in context and explain its significance or subsequent development.

Updating Rather Than Misleading

If the situation changes or new information becomes available, we update the article so that it reflects the latest known status.

XNEWS Corrections and Updates

We consider accuracy more important than pretending to be infallible.

Technology news, security incidents and breaking news can develop very quickly. New information may therefore lead to updates to an already published article.

Article Updates

If new relevant information becomes available, we may expand or update an article.

An update may, for example:

  • add newly confirmed information,
  • change the status of an ongoing incident,
  • add a new primary source,
  • correct or remove inaccurate information,
  • clarify the original wording.

For significantly updated articles, we provide the date and time of the latest update.

Correcting Errors

If we identify a factual error, we aim to correct it as quickly as possible.

If a correction materially changes the meaning of the original information, the article should make clear that it has been updated or corrected.

Minor typographical, grammatical or stylistic corrections that do not change the meaning of an article may not be separately identified.

Reporting an Error

If you find an inaccuracy, missing context, a broken source link or another factual error in an XNEWS article, you can let us know.

When reporting an error, it is helpful if you include the URL of the article and briefly describe the information or source your comment concerns.
