Ripple Announces Final OCC Approval for Trust Bank
Ripple said the U.S. OCC has given final approval to establish Ripple National Trust Bank. The publicly available OCC filing does not yet show a separate new decision.

Ripple announced on October 26 that the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) had given final approval for a charter for Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB). According to the company, it is intended to be a federally supervised trust bank focused primarily on managing reserves for the RLUSD stablecoin and custody of digital assets.
The announcement is currently based on a Ripple press release. On the publicly available OCC pages reviewed on October 27, there was no separate new decision or press release directly confirming RNTB’s final approval. The public application record continues to show the approval dated December 12, 2025.
Ripple National Trust Bank to Manage RLUSD Reserves
Ripple says RNTB will manage segregated reserves for the RLUSD stablecoin and act as a collateral trustee for the benefit of holders of the token. Planned activities are also expected to include fiduciary custody of digital assets.
According to the company, RLUSD issuance will not change. The stablecoin will continue to be issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, a Ripple entity regulated by New York’s NYDFS.
RNTB would not be a traditional commercial bank for customer deposits and loans. The available information does not indicate that it will provide such services or offer FDIC deposit insurance. The bank’s stated role concerns trust and custody activities involving digital assets and RLUSD reserves.
Previous OCC Decision Was Conditional
In December 2025, the OCC approved the RNTB charter only on a preliminary and conditional basis. The regulator’s document expressly stated that the bank could not begin operations without subsequent final approval from the OCC. Ripple now says it has obtained that final step.
If the declared approval is also documented in OCC materials, Ripple will gain a federally supervised trust bank for managing RLUSD reserves and providing institutional crypto custody. This would represent a move from a conditional charter toward the ability to conduct regulated trust activities, not an automatic expansion of the company into a universal bank.
Independent crypto media outlets attribute the report to Ripple’s announcement. The OCC’s public record itself identifies the Ripple National Trust Bank application under charter No. 25364, but currently continues to display the earlier approval from December 2025.
What Is Still Unknown
Ripple has not disclosed a confirmed start date for RNTB operations or the precise scope of services the bank will launch first. It is also not publicly documented whether the OCC imposed additional operating conditions beyond those mentioned by the company.
Another point to watch will be any publication of the final letter, decision or record update directly by the OCC. RNTB’s relationship to the GENIUS Act rules, which are expected to take effect on January 18, 2027, will also be relevant.
Reports about XRP’s price response to the announcement cannot be attributed exclusively to this step. The cryptocurrency’s price movement may be related to multiple factors and does not constitute an investment signal.
