Bitcoin Falls Below $84,000, Dogecoin Loses More Than 10% as U.S. Yields Rise

Bitcoin fell below $84,000 and Dogecoin weakened by more than 10%. At the same time, the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield rose to 5.11%.

Bitcoin and Dogecoin traded lower on the morning of September 24. Bitcoin was trading around $83,785, below the $84,000 threshold, and fell 3.63% over the previous trading period. Dogecoin traded at approximately $0.093 and, according to available market data, was down 10.34%.

At the same time, the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury bond rose. For September 23, the U.S. Department of the Treasury reported a figure of 5.11%, compared with 4.96% a day earlier.

Bitcoin and Dogecoin as Yields Rise Above 5%

The 5.11% level is above the 5.04% that Axios identified on September 16 as the highest yield on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds since 2007.

Higher government bond yields increase pressure on risky and non-yielding assets. They may reduce appetite for volatile assets, including cryptocurrencies. However, the simultaneous movements alone do not prove that rising yields were the only or direct cause of the decline in cryptocurrency prices.

Dogecoin Fell More Sharply Than Bitcoin

While Bitcoin fell 3.63%, Dogecoin, according to the current market data, weakened by 10.34%. The percentage change may vary depending on the measurement time and the exchange or data source used; an earlier figure put Dogecoin’s decline at approximately 7% to 8%.

Bitcoin’s fall below $84,000, together with Dogecoin’s double-digit weakening, shows increased short-term volatility in the cryptocurrency market. This development is not investment advice.
