CoinEx to Cease Exchange Operations, Withdrawals Expected to Remain Available Until December 2026
CoinEx announced an orderly cessation of operations. Spot trading is expected to end on September 29, and withdrawals are expected to remain available until December 22, 2026.

CoinEx announced the cessation of exchange operations on September 15, 2026. The process is expected to take place in several stages: new registrations and some products have already been suspended, spot trading is expected to end on September 29, and clients are expected to be able to withdraw assets until 02:00 UTC on December 22, 2026.
The announcement concerns the centralized CoinEx exchange. The company also stated that CoinEx Wallet and CoinEx Vault are not part of the exchange’s cessation of operations.
CoinEx cessation-of-operations schedule
On September 15, CoinEx suspended new registrations and several new products. Non-spot services are expected to end on September 22, 2026.
Spot trading, along with CSC and OneSwap services, is expected to end on September 29. From that date, CoinEx intends to begin processing users’ remaining liquid assets that are not USDT by converting them to USDT. According to its own announcement, the platform will automatically buy back remaining CET tokens at a rate of 0.005 USDT per CET.
- September 15, 2026: suspension of new registrations and selected products,
- September 22, 2026: end of non-spot services,
- September 29, 2026: end of spot trading, CSC and OneSwap; start of conversions of remaining liquid assets to USDT,
- December 22, 2026, 02:00 UTC: planned platform closure and end of standard withdrawals.
CoinEx cessation of operations: what users should address
For clients, the key dates are primarily those related to trading, asset conversion and withdrawals. After spot trading ends on September 29, remaining liquid assets, except USDT, may be converted to USDT according to the procedure announced by the exchange. Users should address their holdings and withdrawals before the relevant deadlines.
Withdrawals are expected to remain open until 02:00 UTC on December 22. After that time, CoinEx plans to transfer unclaimed USDT to independent custody. It is expected to charge a monthly fee of 5% of the original balance for such custody. The right to claim these funds is expected to remain available until August 22, 2028.
This condition applies to USDT left on the exchange after the December deadline. Users should consider completing withdrawals before the platform fully ceases operations.
Reasons and reserve status are exchange claims
CoinEx cited a weak market, declining trading volumes and liquidity, growing regulatory requirements and costs as reasons for the decision. These reasons represent the company’s explanation; available sources do not confirm them as an independently verified cause of the cessation of operations.
The exchange also declared that user assets are fully backed and that its reserve ratio exceeds 100%. Independent verification of this declaration was not confirmed in the available materials.
What to watch through December
The next checkpoints will be the shutdown of non-spot services on September 22, the subsequent end of spot trading on September 29 and the operation of withdrawals during the remaining period. Any independent confirmation of reserve status and statements from regulators will also be important.
CoinEx states that the orderly cessation is expected to lead to the exchange closing on December 22, 2026. Users should rely on the announced schedule and verify the status of their accounts directly through the platform interface.
