Harmony Proposes Ending Its Blockchain and Migrating ONE to Ethereum
Harmony has submitted a non-binding proposal to end its Layer-1 network and issue ONE as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. Smart contract users are urged to exit before September 10, 2026.

Harmony ONE is the subject of a non-binding proposal under which the project would end operation of its own Layer-1 mainnet and issue ONE as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum network. The proposal does not currently mean that the blockchain has been shut down or that the migration has been approved.
The plan calls for a final network snapshot, an airdrop of ERC-20 ONE tokens to corresponding addresses on Ethereum, and the migration of exchange listings. Harmony cited security threats, including state actors and AI agents, as the reason for the proposed change.
Harmony ONE Does Not Yet Have a Final Deadline
The proposal did not specify a final network block or the date of a complete mainnet shutdown. It is also not confirmed whether the proposal will undergo a formal validator vote or what such a process would look like. Key technical parameters for the snapshot, airdrop, ERC-20 contract, and transfer of exchange integrations have not yet been independently verified.
The existence of the proposal itself does not mean that a new token will automatically be issued on Ethereum or that positions and account types for which migration has not been confirmed will be transferred automatically. Before taking any action, users should follow official project announcements and confirmations from specific exchanges or wallet providers.
Smart Contracts Are Not Intended to Migrate Automatically
Harmony stated that automatic migration is not intended to apply to multisig wallets, liquidity pools, and on-chain applications. It urged users to exit smart contracts before September 10, 2026.
The proposal does not yet provide a confirmed procedure for multisigs, liquidity funds, DeFi applications, or unclaimed rewards. These categories may require separate actions before a potential snapshot.
An Unusual Move for an Established L1 Project
If the proposal were approved and implemented, Harmony would cease operating as an independent blockchain and ONE would continue as a token in the Ethereum ecosystem. This is an unusual proposal for the voluntary shutdown of an established Layer-1 project, but it is not yet a completed migration.
Going forward, it will be important to monitor Harmony’s official proposal or governance vote, the validators’ decision, the final block, the deployed ERC-20 contract, audits of migration scripts, and support from exchanges and wallets. Without these confirmations, Harmony ONE remains only a submitted plan with open technical and operational questions.
